I want to buy a sewing machine for my granddaughter, 7 yr old, and she wants to sew for her 18 inch doll. I want a machine that will handle sewing small things and I can't seem to find one. ? ? ?

In answer to looking for small sewing machine for doll clothes.

I taught my granddaughter to sew on a reg. size sewing machine when she was 6 years old. She made pot holders, as the first thing they need to learn is to sew a straight line. I would teach her how to tread the machine and then making pot holders or placemats to get used to the machine. My sewing machine had different speeds and I had her using the slow speed until he could handle it. She is now 9 years old and I have an embrodery machine. She knows how to download designs off my PC and put them into the machine and do all the embrodery. Kids learn fast if their interested in what there doing. Glad your teaching her to sew. I think all girls need to know how to sew. Have fun....Lynn

P.S. Just buy your basic sewing machine, because she'll move on to making other things. My granddaughter made her mom a bathrobe for xmas last year. You need to stick to a reg. size sewing machine.

Home made dolls beat barbies by a long shot

I think Barbie doll clothes are way too expensive. My Mom has made clothes for my daughter's dolls and she loves them. My Mom put tags in each of the clothes too with her doll's name on them and it just really gives it a personal touch.
