Where to start

I am just starting to get into this whole business of scrapbooking. Where should I start first? Should I buy some books and magazines to help get me started?

Check around your area for local scrapbooking stores. Most of these stores have a pretty active community where scrapbookers get together. Some stores will even have after-hours scrapbook parties where you can use the store supplies and tools.

I've found that most of these groups are pretty helpful to the beginner and would be a great place to get you started.

I agree with Michelle. I went to a local craft store where they held scrapping parties. A lot of these pros were very helpful to me as far as advice is concerned. I got a lot of great ideas from them too.

It all depends on what exactly you want to do.......Are you going to start a store people can walk in to?

Are you going to just market your items on ebay?

Are you creating an item from the materials like pages or books for customers to purchase?

Or are you just looking to sell individual items like paper, cutouts, stickers etc?

I got hooked when I went with a friend to a Creative Memories party. A lot of their stuff is pretty expensive but it gave me tons of ideas and I knew there were ways that I could do it a lot cheaper. I get ideas just from going to craft stores and looking at a lot of the displays that they have in the scrapbook aisles.

I've been to the Creative Memories classes and parties and they did nothing to help me know where to start or what to do. They did get me to buy A LOT of stuff. I have hundreds of dollars of supplies sitting in my craft room and I don't know where to begin or what I want to do.

I've been to a Creative Memories get together and I think their stuff is way overpriced. You can get stuff a lot cheaper at Michael's
