Comment #1 Vicki (64.76.35.161) - I think one of my favorites for the bulletin boards that one of my kid's teachers used to do it to take a letter size piece of construction paper and affix a snapshot of each child to a single page. The child then had about "ten things about me" such as favorite buddy, favorite food, favorite subject etc. that were listed on preprinted lines on that sheet. At the end of the year the child got to take home their page. Comment #2 Jeanette from AZ (Contact Member) - I've made fabric bulletin boards for each of my kids' rooms. It was really easy. I took fabric that coordinated with their rooms, bought some batting, some pretty ribbon and those furniture tacks. I staple gunned the batting to the bulletin board, did the same with the fabric, then cris crossed the ribbon on the front of the bulletin board and and put the furniture tacks in each intersecting ribbon. It's a nice way to coordinate a bulletin board with their room. Comment #3 Courtney (1) from The South (Contact Member) - I always cover my bulletin boards in fabric to coordinate with what we are studying. Then I display artwork and their writings. The fabric is so much cuter than the paper. I get many comments on my bulletin boards. I did a really cute one with a sky background and at the bottom I used single stem flowers and lined the up along the bottom. I made a huge tree that I painted on poster boards. Then my students wrote about preserving the Earth, the board was for Earth Day. Comment #4 Courtney (1) from The South (Contact Member) - A cute idea is to make a huge rainbow out of the kids hands. Have the students each trace one hand in each of these colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple. Then cut them out and put them together in the shape of a rainbow on the bulletin board. Another hand idea is to have them trace their hand on green, yellow, orange, and brown construction paper and you can make a tree in the classroom out of the big rolls of colored paper. Then put the kids hands on the limbs to look like leaves. Comment #5 endora (24.45.126.104) - I like the 10 things about me idea. Its so important to get them to think about who they are and what they like. My little one is always trying to copy me and its a nice idea to make them think about what makes them unique. Comment #6 Bill (63.176.159.104) - There are some pretty cool designs in this link, check them out and see if you'd like to use them. Comment #7 dustin (63.176.159.26) - i also like the picture with the ten things about me project. its nice for the child to think about him/herself in a positive way. they can also look back on it in the future to see whats changed and whats the same. Comment #8 Isaac (63.176.159.186) - I remember to this day what we did in my first grade class. Each week there would be a different "star of the week" who got the bulletin board outside the classroom completely dedicated to them. The board would show your name and some of your favorite things. Definitely the best thing to a first grader, walking down the hall and seeing your face plastered everywhere on the huge 10' x 3' bulletin board. • Page 1 (Original Post) •
