A great memory to cherish! I did this with my daughter and a friend when my daughter had her first sleepover. You can use quick dry cement purchased at a hardware store. I used mortar and it did not work well (maybe a bad batch?) Take 8in round aluminum cake pan(s) and lightly (I do mean lightly) coat the pan with oil. Too much will not allow the stone to set properly. (learning error)

Let the mixture set half the time the directions say. You can use a toothpick to test the setting. When the cement is nice and thick put in your mosaic pieces. Don't forget to carve dates and initials if you want this for a keepsake!

Once dry, pop it out of the pan and there you have your stepping stone.

I have an area in my garden with stepping stones I made myself. I bought the kit from Michaels. It was real expensive for just one. I think I will try this idea. Sounds alot cheaper.
