I am thinking about doing an end table with mosaic tile. Right now it is just a plain wood table. I am going to put a wood trim around the top of its edges and sand everything down, stain it, and then tile it. I really want to do a mosaic where you break the tiles and then lay them, has anyone done something like this?

I havent but it sounds very intersting. Where will you get the tile? Will you get pre broke ones or make them yourself. That is the part i am wondering about.

I've seen this done on those craft shows on HGTV. They really make it look easy but I think once I tackle something like this I end up saying to myself "What in the world did I get myself into?" LOL.

Yeah ive been there. Ive taken on a few projects that have taken forever and i wasnt expecting it. Im in the middle of a rug i havent finished now because it has taken so long. Then you put it to the side and its hard to come back to it.

I can't tell you how many projects I have waiting to be finished. LOL. My husband is not too pleased with me overtaking the cabinets in the garage with all my half finished stuff!!

I have done this. It is not too difficult. I used tile that was left over from my kitchen backsplash (which I also did). They were six by six square which I used whole to make a square around the perimeter(it is a square coffee table). Then I smashed some with a hammer to fill in the middle. I used craft glue to glue them down and then grouted after 24 hours drying time. When you smash the tiles, wrap them in a towel first then hit them with the hammer. Good luck.
