Do you have any good ideas for how to keep the little ones entertained with crafts on rainy days? I buy small little crafting bead kits and bracelets during these times and let them make stuff. What do you do?

I've bought a bunch of those workbooks at the dollar store. There are a variety of different activities - word searches, coloring pages, dot to dot, etc. I use these when we travel too. I have a big tote that I just throw them in and it's easy to just pick up when you go on a road trip. I like to make my own playdoh for them too. I'll have to find the recipe for it and post it on here.

I think a great idea is the pinecone bird feeders. While it is raining you can make the pinecone feeders and then after the rain when the birds come back out you can hang them in the trees. Hint: don't use peanut butter, it makes the birds sick, use corn meal instead.

Puppets are a good idea to make on rainy days. You can use socks, brown paper sacks, popsicle sticks, construction paper, foam sheets, felt, pompoms, and anything you can think of to make puppets. Just give the kids these materials and let them use their imagination or check out some books from the library that have easy ideas and instructions.

Sock puppets!! I forgot all about them! Thats a great idea i can do with them. I wont even have to buy anything just use a stray sock that isnt being used.

Thanks for the sock puppet idea.

I have a stack of puzzles I keep hidden away and they come out for rainy days.

This usually keeps the kids busy for at least part of the day.
