Candles or flashlight?

After you carve your pumpkin do you leave it outside with a candle in it or a flashlight? My husband thinks its unsafe to use a candle but growing up thats all i used. What is more current but still have the same effect as a candle?

I use a small votive candle. it will just burn down into the flesh and go out.
Make sure you have water in the bottom of the pumpkin.
The candle will go out when it's done.
Flashlght are you kidding? Who coud afford the batteries?
Votives are cheap.

I use a small votive candle as well. Actually I use 2 to make it burn brighter. I wouldn't want to stick my flashling in a gooey pumpkin.
