I don't have much experience doing tye die, what are the best dyes to use. I have heard the cheap ones like at the grocery store for a dollar work really good. Does anyone know of a good instruction guide online or a book even. Comment #1 mongoose from USA - I never realised how much my craft training from school years paid off. Comment #2 Nancy from Wisconsin - Tie dye is cool and easy to do. Comment #3 Ember from The Easel - I don't really want to make shirts, but I thought it would be fun to make socks. You could make everyone socks and they can just wear them around the house. You could make them for all of the holidays too. This is a great project to get the kids involved and it is cheap fun! Comment #4 Goldie from on top of Ol' Smokey! - I did some research on this, this past summer. My daughter was sick and had to stay home from Day camp on tye dye day. If you want the colors to last, you need to use a special fabric dye that you can order online. It is hard to find a craft stores (at least I couldn't find it at Joann Fabrics). You can use Rit, but the colors won't be as bright an last, but it is a good way to get started. You can also dye with Kool aid!!
