Finger Print Egg

Thank author of this post/commentSupply List

# Blown-Out Egg

# Acrylic Paint in Assorted Colors

# Clear Acrylic Spray Sealer

Equipment List

# Dish to hold the paint

Instructions

1. Click here for instructions on how to blow out the insides of your egg.

2. Squeeze a little bit of each paint that you'd like to use on a dish.

3. Lightly dip your finger in the paint and press it onto the egg shell. It will take a little practice to get just the right amount of paint on your finger so that it makes a nice print. If you like, you can practice on a piece of white paper before you begin.

4. When you have finished creating your design, allow the egg shell to dry completely.

5. In a well ventilated area, spray a coat of the acrylic sealer on the egg. This will prevent the paint from chipping and your egg will look great for many years to come!

Thank author of this post/commentThese sound like they would be fairly hard to make. You would have to be a craft queen to be able to do this without breaking the egg shell. Very cute idea, I think I would pay someone to make them for me.

Thank author of this post/commentI never had any luck blowing the yolk out of the egg, of coarse that was a long time ago! I like the idea, I think I will have to try it!

Thank author of this post/commentI don't think I could do this project...I'm pretty clumsy. LOL. You'd definitely need a steady hand for this one. I remember we had to do something like this when I was in grade school. Everyone's eggs were breaking!

I have followed the link you posted below your instruction TexasGal and liked the result of the finger print egg. Very artistic and innovative. I believe the only problem for me if I did such projects is the right amount of paint that will make a aesthetically pleasing to the eyes art. I have steady hands so I am not afraid that I will break the fragile surface of the egg. Great Easter tip. More power.

I agree that this would initially be a hard venture but with a little practice you are good to go. It just takes some interest and willingness to learn.

The poor results look clumsy especially when you do not have steady hands or have difficulty scooping the right amount of point.

I am definitely trying this out until I can do it perfectly and as snowbird puts it, I hope luck will be with me!

Sorry but I can't help but laugh upon reading this line:

"...how to blow out the insides of your egg."

if you get what it could alternately mean hahaha.

Well, I can put fingerprints on my egg yet it would take a forensic expert to see through the fingerprint markings on my egg ahahaha

Hey blasted green, you are way too much huh.. You meant to say something more than just plain eggs..

ANyway, i think painting on egg shells are a little bit hard. I would not dare do that without proper guidance. The egg shells are too thin and can easily get crushed!

But anyway, thanks for that craft idea. I think i will be doing that egg painting someday. thanks a bunch.

Those egg painting are great for Easter Sunday. We used to paint on egg shells, but they are not that vulnerable for they are artificial egg shells, the ones that you can find at gift stores or at the toy stores. There are certainly lots of things that we can do out of everything, all we have to do is to is to discover the potential out of anything. Smile.

I have to say that those art ideas are great. I will do that on our next art project at school. By the way, I am an art teacher at a nursery school and would like to have some more advice on how to further make oour art projects more exciting. Any ideas?

There are many ways to decorate eggs for easter most of them are a bit difficult simply because they are on eggs. There are ways to stain the eggs too without the sealer though and children really do enjoy this as easter projects.

Tips on painting an egg

Hollow out your egg. The best way to paint an egg if you want to be able to have it on display indefinitely is to hollow it out and paint it from there. You will go through several eggs while doing this, especially if you haven't tried this technique before. Do not get discouraged or frustrated. Eggs are cheap, and the more frustrated you get, the more difficult your task will become.
