I'm doing this with a girls scout troop to get them use to weaving. Intstead of buy individual looms, we made our own use a check box.(you know the box your checks come in?) Take the bottom box and put in 9 to 10 slits -space them about 1/8 of an in on the both sided of the narrow side of the box. Take cotton string and wrap around the box so that the string is stuck in the slit tightly. Take a piece of yarn and tie it to the bottom of either the left or right side of the first string and weave over - under -over - under. You can use different color pieces of yarn to make a cool looking weave. At the end, cut the bottom of the strings and leave at least 2 inches hanging to that you may tie beads to the end!

A fun learning invexpensinve craft!!

That sounds like a fun project to do! I like the recycling idea of it. I was at our local fleet farm and sound a loom for kids. It was around $15!

that does sound like a really fun project. I would like to try this with my 3 girls, I bet they would love to do this, and it would keep them entertained and would be something they could make of their own.

I have a after school group for girls, I help them with their homework and anything else they might need. I made this craft with my girls and they loved it! Thanks

I have to agree with Lucy. that was a nice project snowbird. I have tried it with my niece and nephews when they visited us back for the family annual reunion and they enjoyed the whole project and activity.

and so they told me that they want another project when they visited us again. I know i can always check for the net but i am looking forward to your nest project to share with us.

I have to agree on that, doing some art crafts with kids is a nice idea. Just looking at them enjoying an activity and at the same time enjoying makes me wanna come up with a new project and try to do it with them again. Right now I am thinking of what new to introduce to them. I would surely appreciate all of your ideas posted here. Thanks a lot.
