Snowmen

Courtney (1) from The South -

I absolutely love snowmen and I have a bunch of them I put out at Christmas time. I am looking to make some, I figured they would be good keepsakes. Does anyone have any good kits, ideas, or websites that would be beneficial?

Have you seen dept 56 snow babies? You cant craft them but they hold the same theme and you can display them at Christmas time. You would love them if you love snowmen!

Oh Mongoose that is the way it is here sometimes. We just had a huge snow storm last week surprisingly. I hate the snow, but adore snowmen. There are lots of ideas you can do with cottonballs and paperplates when it comes to crafts with kids.

This year I'm going to have our kids do snowmen. We are going to take small ceramic flower pot and turn them upside down and hot glue on the top a wooden ball (or you could use a small styrofoam ball)and paint it all white. Once dry you can draw on the buttons and face. Hot glue a strip of red and white ribbon for the scarf and a small swatch of cloth for the hat. There you have it.

You can always use the big fat marshmallows to make snowmen, and then eat em. Eatible snowmen would be cute for a kids party or just a Christmas treat. The white styrofoam balls are always an easy thing to use to create snowmen out of. Make sure to make a flat spot on the styrofoam balls to connect them though. If you try it totally round, they won't stick very well with the glue gun. You can also use scewers like a kabob to put them together but then you risk breaking the balls apart.

The have fake marshmellows at the craft store it you want the craft to be a keepsake, but like the marshmellwo idea! We did that for a thanksgiving craft, except we made a turkey.

I like peekaboos idea, but you can buy textured paint and paint them that so that they have a little bit of texture to it. Are you looking for something in a certain age group?

My mom crochets snowmen. They are the cutest things! She sold a lot of them when I was little and people would watch her making them while waiting for my ballet classes to end.

I've made some snowmen with the white foam balls and used them as centerpieces. We had a holiday party one year at our house and had tables set out throughout my home - I made some really easy snowmen with the foam balls and they turned out so cute. A couple twigs from outside, some buttons, some paint and for a hat I used one of those plant liners for a small plant pot.

Well, I have been dreaming of a white Christmas for a long time now. I am not a regular citizen of a country with four seasons, so I haven't actually experienced building a snow man. Well, maybe next year. I am still going back to my homeland this month.
