Stained glass lamp shades

This message board is to discuss Arts n Crafts. We also have a directory of products: Arts n Crafts

Alain from Old Country -

My daughter-in-law has been trying to find kits to make stained-glass lamp shades. I'd like to give her one as a present, but don't know whether these are available for beginners. She is very artistic and good with her hands so shouldn't be a problem.

Wow Alain, I have been looking too. Nothing....nothing at all! If you find anything please let me know. I find many kits for mosaic, and stained glass, but nothing for the lamp shades. I was in JCPenney today and I saw their Tiffany style lamps and it just made me want to do it more!

That sounds like it would be absolutely lovely and a lot of fun to make too. I made stained glass Christmas ornaments a few years ago and a different technique of stained glass picture for my mom.

I would love to take a class in stained glass! We have a old home and I think a few windows could use some color. It also keeps the bright lights out.

What a lovely idea! I wonder how hard it would be to refit existing windows as stained glass ones. That is very creative. Good luck!

Comment #5 Gail from Tinsel Town -

I'd really like to try to attempt this. Is this something that is very expensive to do?

Comment #6 MissCrissy from Stampin' On Up -

That's a great question, Gail. What scale do you want to do this on? The stained glass projects I did were very inexpensive. But I can imagine that replacing the windows of your home with stained glass would not be an inexpensive project.
