Help? Source for bulk thread spools (emply)I need a source for plastic (preferred) or wooden thread spools for an engineering design challenge for middle school students. Any suggestions or leads would be MOST appreciated! Thanks, Ellen
You you need them full or empty? Or does it matter?
You can find those thing outside the dumpster of a tailor's shop or you start by searching a apparel production factory and try your luck there if they are discarding or recycling those empty spools. You might also get some from garmets factories in all sizes, ones that they use from the thread and the cloths . I don't think there's a wooden spools but I know there are some made from paper. By the way, what is your project all about?
What Naid has said is true. First start with your vicinity. Comb almost every location that you come across. You might find what you need in the most unlikely places. Why not get your students, if at all you have not done that already, involved in the whole collection process? They are the beneficiaries of the whole hustle. They might even have better and unique suggestions against your expectations.
